Rostec created a parachute for emergency evacuation from skyscrapers

For the first time, Rostec demonstrated a unique development for the evacuation of people from high-rise buildings – the individual Chance special-purpose parachute system.

The first open demonstration of the new product took place at the Kirzhach aerodrome as part of the opening of the production complex of the Scientific Research Institute of Parachute Building JSC of the Technodynamics holding company, which is part of the State Corporation.

Unlike conventional parachute systems, “Chance” allows you to drop a person from extremely low heights – from 30 meters (the height of a nine-story building) and above.

The product includes an exhaust link, which provides closure of the side valves and extension of the domes, three parachutes that hold the given landing speed, and also a satchel with a suspension system. At the same time, the parachute opens at the right height on its own, and its use does not require special training.

“The growing urbanization is leading to more and more tall buildings. Despite the increased safety requirements for such facilities, emergency evacuation of them in case of emergency is often difficult. To solve this problem, the Chance system was created, which can greatly simplify rescue operations in modern megacities.

In a way, this is a unique development in which, despite its apparent simplicity, the best achievements of domestic parachuting are concentrated, ”said Sergey Chemezov, CEO of Rostec State Corporation.

In the current configuration, the parachute is designed to launch a person weighing from 50 to 120 kg from a height of at least 30 meters. The system has a dead weight of 4.8 kg and dimensions of 50 × 30 × 20 cm. “The system has passed a number of bench tests. The product will definitely be in demand by companies operating high-rise buildings – these are business centers, hotels, and multi-story residential real estate objects, ”said Igor Nasenkov, head of Technodynamics.

The new production line of the Research Institute of Parachute Building, opened in Kirzhach today, will increase the production of domestic parachute systems by 3 times, releasing more than 2 thousand items a year. The enterprise will produce parachute systems of all main types: cargo, special, ammunition, brake, space, human and others, including large-sized ones with a dome area of ​​more than 1 thousand sq.m.
